FRAMED LITHOGRAPH AFTER AUBREY BEARDSLEY “The Peacock Skirt” 1893 Size: 46cm x 40cmFirst published by John Lane The Bodley Head Ltd. 1894. The Peacock Skirt was for Oscar Wilde’s Salome which eventuallly premiered in Paris in 1896. Together with the book titled “The Best of Beardsley” publ. 1967 See Plate 3 Aubrey Beardsley (1872-1898) His drawings in black ink were strongly influenced by the Japanese woodcuts and he was a figue in the Aesthetick movement which included Oscar Wilde. He wass the most contraversial artist of the Art Nouveau era.
